Graduation Ceremony

2021 Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University, Faculty o Theology. Graduation Ceremony

30th of June is the day when diplomas were awarded to 6 students from 5 different African countries, namely, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The day began with the Eucharistic celebration at 9am in the University Chapel being led by Fr. Prof. Marek Tata, the university assistant dean of studies.

The main intention was to thank God for the journey successfully travelled. The journey was not easy with the covid19 pandemic disturbing normal learning procedures, yet, the destination was reached. The new normal of virtual learning was not easy for students neither was it easier for the lecturers, but they all endured up to the end by God’s grace.

In the presence of 4 professors: dean Rev. father prof. Piotr Tomasik, vice dean Rev. father prof. Marek Tatar, Rev. father prof. Jarosław Różański, Rev. father prof. Wojciech Kluj and Rev. father doctor Mariusz Boguszewski, the proper graduation ceremony began at 10am being led by the Dean of studies. In his speech, he revealed his profound joy for this blessed day—a day for awarding diplomas in different fields like catechetics, fundamental theology, missiology, moral theology, and theology of culture. Amongst those receiving diplomas was one Fr. Samuel Mogisa who was to be raised to the title of Doctor in Missiology. The remainder were to receive licentiate diplomas. The Dean pointed out that there is no end in learning. According to him, each level of achievement is a stepping stone to focus on another higher level. After receiving a licentiate diploma, one should aim for doctorate. And by receiving doctorate, one should aim to be a professor.

The first to receive his diploma was Fr. Samuel Mogisa whom, after making his doctoral promises, was raised to the title of Doctor in Missiology. He was followed by Fr. Karol Chipondo who received a licentiate in Theology of Culture. Then Fr. Polycarp Opiyo and Fr. Aeron Kumusekere followed receiving their licentiates in Moral Theology and Fundamental Theology, respectively. Unfortunately, Frs. Michael Chimwala and Paul Makundi were not physically available to receive their licentiate diplomas in catechetics and missiology, respectively.

The event ended up with a speech by Fr. Dr. Samuel Mogisa on behalf of the students. He thanked the dean and the professors present and those in absentia for their dedication, unwavering support, and the achievements awarded. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the warm welcoming environment at UKSW, from the administrators, the professors and the ancillary staff members. The joyful moments were finalised by snap shots within the venue and also at the entrance of the faculty of theology building.

UKSW is a university of content substance everyone can look forward to come and experience first-hand theological richness.
