On 21 – 23 November, UKSW organized a trip to Cracow and Częstochowa for our foreign students from Africa. Here are a few photos and comments written by the participants.

„As priests under the help from UKSW, we were offered a three days pilgrimage/tour to some great and important historical sites of Poland associated with religious, cultural and spiritual life of the Polish people. These were edifying moments of our life and prayer. We learnt that Poland treasures in culture and religion not forgetting political matters something to be embraced.

Faith in Poland is still strong enough as opposed to the rest of Europe, this is evident from the areas we visited such as: The Divine Mercy shrine in Krakow, Poland is a Roman Catholic Basilica dedicated to the divine mercy devotion and resting place of saint Faustina Kowalska. Saint John Paul II Church in Krakow. The Black Madonna of Częstochowa also known as Our Lady of Częstochowa, housed at Jasna Gora Monastery in Częstochowa, the image of Blessed Virgin Mary attested as early as 14th century. Among other historical sites we visited was the Wieliczka Salt Mine. History must be written and built, people in Poland have kept their identity and developed it from one generation to the next as you can witness multitude of people immersed in prayers and spending nights in adoration.

It was a great moment of shopping, enjoyed the good prices of church vessels and vestments which many of the priests liked. The influence of Saint John Paul ll has impacted on the life of the people positively something cherished by all. It is reality lived in Poland since there are many known and unknown saints. Our gratitude goes again to our University, Fr. Mariusz Boguszewski, Alexandra Burek and Evelen who made the trip – pilgrimage of the African priests possible and amazing. May God bless you always as we look forward to another great opportunity of the same in the near future.”
